As of March 3, 2012, we are “The First Leader in Me Lighthouse School” among the 60 Chinese independent high schools in Malaysia!
It was an extraordinary, meaningful and historical day for Pin Hwa High School in Klang, Malaysia.
Our school had officially signed a contract with Leadership Resources (M) Sdn. Bhd. for implementing the concept of Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits within the school system. And it was to be recognised as “The Leader in Me Lighthouse School”.
Henceforth, our school will follow certain procedures to arrange our school teachers to attend the training courses, introduce the concept of 7 Habits to the staff and parents, and implement it in our to students’ life in school.
During the ceremony, our Chairman, Dr Chia Song Kun declared the reason of school for implementing the “7 Habits”. It was to nurture our students to be future leaders who would take the lead in the working filed in future.
Furthermore, Dr Chia added that the culture of 7 habits of “The Leader in Me” is not unfamiliar to people in the business world and general public. The school had simplified the concept of 7 habits in order to cultivate good behaviour and personality among her students. 
Besides that, Dr Chia Song Kun also mentioned that even though our school has not officially become the “Leader in Me Lighthouse School”，but the culture of 7 habits has already permeated through the school since 2011. Some teachers, students, and even parents have already recognized or implemented the 7 Habits in their lives.
In addition, he reiterated that “Trying to build or upgrade our school to a modernized independent high school through a speedy transformation plan, we positively seek tactics for the fulfilment of our mission. The 7 habits seem to fit the plan. A good personality is a stepping stone and is the key towards a successful person, therefore, as a student, to learn well is not the only goal but to have a good personality, learn to solve difficulties and build a good personal relationship are important as well.”
At last, Dr Chia Song Kun also indicated that to sign this contract was to suite with our school Vision – MH437as well as to implement the 7 Habits of highly effective people accordingly. He highlighted our school vision as his conclusion.

M:  Modernization
To modernize the school’s facilities (both software and hardware) and to provide professional teaching standard.
H:  Harmony
Harmonize human relationship to support the balance of environment.
4:  Provide the possession of 4Q’s (Intelligence, Emotional, Morality, Adversity)
3:  Focus on Trilingual (Chinese, Malay, English)
7:  Nurture students to internalize and practice The Seven Habits of highly effective people.

The Senior Advisor of the Company Leadership Resources (M) Sdn. Bhd. Mr Roger specified in his speech that through popularizing this concept hopefully could nurture students or Malaysians at large to become the patriotic who could embrace the globalization concept.
Next, Our Headmistress Mdm Goh Lay Kee specified that “when we sow good habits, we gain the good personality; when we sow good personality, we gain the good fate.” She supplemented that “the society today need to nurture more competitive elites, who are not only capable to lead but also possess good personality, in order to face the challenges from the society successfully by their outstanding leadership.”
Our headmistress narrated our “The Leader in Me” journey at the ceremony. She mentioned that our Chairman Mr Chia had got in touch with Mr Franklin Covey’s 7 habits’ concept in 2011, and found that it would be ideal for Pin Hwa High School, to use the practices of 7 Habits to train our students to nurture good habits systematically. Through the build-up of the 7 habits, students have learned to solve the difficulty that they have faced in their studies and the relationship problem of getting along with people. In order to achieve this, the headmistress and the vice headmaster have been advised to attend Franklin Covey’s 7 habits with the mission of spreading the idea and the concept to every single staff and student of Pin Hwa High School

Below is the journey of “the Leader in Me” at Pin Hwa High School since 2011.
